The objectives of this consultation paper are to help aid the development of DVLA Services. This is to be achieved through building service channels to the needs of customers through improving the speed, accuracy and coherence of DVLA services. The formers must be improved with consideration however of the DVLA’s need to reduce the cost of its services and therefore many of the proposals focus on enhancing the electronic systems for DVLA services; removing obstacles to online transacting, improving self-service facilities and using intermediaries. After extensively communicating with RMI members, the RMI has responded to the consultation in overall support of the direction of the proposals. However, member concerns surrounding the transfer of cherished numbers, registering new cars and the consequences of over centralising DVLA services have been voiced by the RMI within the submitted response.
