NMDA RESPONSE TO: MODERNISING COMPULSORY BASIC TRAINING COURSES FOR MOTORCYCLISTS

The Department for Transport (DfT) and the Drive and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) requested views on changes to compulsory basic training (CBT) courses for motorcyclists and the qualification arrangements for instructors.

Compulsory basic training (CBT) for learner motorcyclists has remained largely unchanged since its introduction 25 years ago. The DfT and DVSA have set out to review the delivery of CBT courses for motorcyclists to help ensure that learner riders are better prepared to ride safely on today’s roads.

The NMDA has responded in support of reforming and modernising the CBT.
