“The National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA) recommends that motorists contact their franchised dealer if they have any questions about safety recalls”, said Sue Robinson, Director of the NFDA. The NFDA represents franchised car and commercial vehicle retailers across the UK.

Robinson continued, “Although most cars that have been recalled require no repairs, we are aware that motorists are rightly concerned by any potential safety issue. We urge vehicle owners to contact a franchised dealer, as they have the specialist knowledge and skills to deal with each particular make of car. If any work is necessary, our members will be happy to help and can easily arrange repairs.

“If you want to know if a vehicle recall has been issued, or if a vehicle recall examination has already been performed on your car, you can contact your local franchised dealer directly or use the new, online SMMT Vehicle Recall tool.

“If drivers are unsure of the exact dealer they should contact, they can get in touch with the NFDA by phoning our hotline (01788 538303), or alternatively send an email to We represent 80% of franchised sales outlets in the country, which includes around 40 manufacturer franchises.”
