The Independent Garage Association’s (IGA) Director Stuart James and Head of Member Services Terry Gibson are setting off today to take part in this year’s Car Dealer Magazine charity rally Bangers4BEN.

With this year’s theme of The Italian Job, the 40 teams involved will leave Dover tomorrow morning, driving through France, and Switzerland’s famous Stelvio Pass before finishing the event at the Fiat factory in Turin on Monday 13 October.

To show just how much confidence the IGA has in the independent sector and particularly its own members, the car they are driving is a 1997 BMW purchased from a member and prepared for the trip by another.

Stuart James commented, “It’s great to be doing something for our industry charity BEN.  The event for us is a bit of fun but the message we want to send out is that Independent Garages sell good quality cars and give excellent and great value service.

If the car makes it there and back, and we have no doubt that it will, it will be sold at a special auction at British Car Auctions, with all the proceeds handed over to BEN.”

Stuart and Terry will be tweeting and posting photos of their journey along the way. Follow #B4B14 for all the latest updates.
