MOTOR INSURANCE CONDUCT ADJUDICATOR

Published 11/06/2014 00:00:00 in Press Releases

The Competition & Markets Authority (CMA) is to release their proposed remedies tomorrow morning (12 June 2014 at 7:00am) in relation to their Private Motor Insurance Market Investigation.

Frank Harvey, Head of NAB comments, “the National Association of Bodyshops (NAB)  has been actively involved on this issue. As part of our many submissions, information exchanges and hearings with the CMA, we have consistently called for the appointment of an overarching independent lead body, an adjudicator similar to that appointed in the supermarket sector, to oversee the activities of the providers of motor insurers and other stakeholders, and to ensure their behaviour and activities are legal, moral and ethical.

“NAB has been asked by the CMA to formalise its proposals for an independent lead body, a copy of which we have attached for your consideration, and would advise that this proposal also has the full support of the Vehicle Builders and Repairers Association, (VBRA) & the RMI.

“We would invite your views on the attached and also ask that you circulate it to others within your organisation to whom this may be of interest”.
