NFDA Spring Statement 2018 comment

NFDA 13/03/2018

“It is positive to see that the Chancellor has indicated we will continue to see the UK economy grow between now and 2022”, said Sue Robinson, Director of the National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA) commenting on today’s Spring Statement.

In today’s statement, the Chancellor confirmed that the UK economy is growing at a slightly faster rate than predicted in November, and borrowing is down

Key points included:

  • A reduction in tax on for the least polluting vans to "help the great British white van driver go green"
  • There will be a consultation on new plans to strip away tax relief on ‘red diesel’
  • £80m of funding will be released to support small businesses to engage with apprentices

Robinson continued, “We will now be looking at the statement in detail and engage with the Government to ensure that our members can benefit from future measures.”
