NFDA welcome draft Consumer Rights Bill

The National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA), which represents franchised car and commercial vehicle retailers across the UK, today welcomes the draft Consumer Rights Bill.

The Department of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) announced their proposals, which aim to streamline overlapping and complicated areas of consumer law from eight existing pieces of legislation into one new Consumer Rights Bill.

Sue Robinson, NFDA Director commented “The Bill is a welcome relief for both businesses and consumers alike as it sets to clarify and simplify the rights of consumers. As the Bill brings together multiple existing laws on consumer rights and condenses them into one simpler piece of legislation it will be easier for members to understand and implement.

“The NFDA is the trade association for franchised dealers and we rigorously ensure that its members adhere to a high set of standards when dealing with their customers so the Bill complements our existing work.

“In addition the NFDA are currently working with its members and other bodies to produce a new set of consumer focused standards. These will further underpin the consumer experience when using an NFDA member.”
