Retailers urged to increase fuel stocks

Published 16/10/2013 00:00:00 in Press Releases

The Petrol Retailers’ Association (PRA), the trade association representing independent forecourt retailers in the UK, continues to urge retailers to increase fuel stocks following news that the Grangemouth oil refinery will remain shut.

Operators of Grangemouth oil refinery have announced that the refinery will remain shut until at least Tuesday.

Brian Madderson, PRA Chairman, said “Although it has been confirmed that 90% of volumes will still leave the refinery, there is still a small risk of disruption.

“However a major industry exercise is underway to put alternative supply plans in place. Forecourts that normally receive supplies from Grangemouth refinery are being urged to raise stock levels to keep forecourt fuel stocks above the 50% capacity level.

“The PRA will continue to monitor the situation to ensure our members are fully briefed in the event that the situation changes.”
