“The Retail Motor Industry (RMI) have taken a leading role in the fight against the possible change to the frequency of MOT testing and will continue to lobby on behalf of its members. The MOT debate is already very much underway on the Red Tape Challenge site and it is important that our views and accurate information are put across to help our anti 4.2.2 regulation cause. We are urging everyone to voice their opinion against the change to ensure the safety of our road users and livelihoo

“The Department for Transport is urging members of the motor industry and the general public to give their thoughts as part of the Red Tape Challenge. There are a number if regulations for the retail motor trade to comment on but currently the MOT and the risk of a change to its frequency to 4.2.2 is the most critical issue.”

The Red Tape Challenge is a big drive to have a ‘spring clean’ of all the laws, rules and regulations on the Government’s books. From 20 May to 17 June the site is open for your thoughts on the regulation of road transport. The road transportation regulations are divided into different topics including licensing, registration and insurance, transport workers and organisations, and vehicle safety and standards. As well as the key issue of MOT there are a variety of other regulations under review that affect the motor industry include Sunday trading laws, consumer regulations, as well as regulations that impact on vehicle repair and maintenance.
