EXTREMELY POSITIVE Q1 2025 FOR THE WHOLESALE MARKET, SAYS NAMA
NAMA 21/03/2025
“Overall, Q1 2025 has been extremely positive, for the month of March so far demand has been outweighing supply with general shortages of stock” said Paul Hill, spokesperson for the National Association of Motor Auctions (NAMA) following the March market meeting for 2025.
LCV segment
NAMA members have noted that while the overall LCV market remains stable, chassis cab vans are experiencing significant volatility. Some areas are seeing a strong performance, contributing to a more positive outlook compared to last year. In the EV van sector, there is more product entering the market. Additionally, the used 4x4 market has slowed, which is anticipated due to upcoming changes in Benefit-in-Kind tax treatment for double cab pick-up trucks next month.
Car market
The metrics and data for March 2025 present a positive outlook, including:
- A strong retail market with search activity up 3% on the same period of 2024
Overall, demand has been exceeding supply, and NAMA members have noted a general shortage of stock. Conversion rates remain strong, with EVs over two years old offering good value. In contrast, EVs under 18 months are facing more challenges.
In general, it has been a very positive quarter for the wholesale market, and with Easter approaching next month, NAMA members are eager to see if this will impact the market.
Paul Hill concluded “Conversion rates remain strong, and it’s noteworthy that EVs over two years old are proving to be good value, which will support the overall vehicle fleet during the transition to electric.
“The general LCV market remains stable but as expected, chassis cab vans are seeing volatility and the used 4x4 market is seeing a slowdown, with Benefit-in-Kind tax changes next month.
“It is really great to hear that everything is still in a positive place, and it will be interesting to see the market in the second half of April and going into May, with Easter around the corner.”
