The National Association of Motor Auctions (NAMA) Launches Licenced Auctioneer Scheme to Recognise and Uphold Industry Excellence

NAMA 02/10/2025

The National Association of Motor Auctions (NAMA) is proud to announce the official launch of its Licenced Auctioneer Scheme, a new initiative designed to endorse and uphold the professionalism of auctioneers operating across the UK vehicle remarketing sector.

The scheme provides formal endorsement to the approximately 150 auctioneers working within NAMA member businesses, recognising the high standards of conduct, competence, and integrity.

The Licenced Auctioneer Scheme marks a significant step forward for the sector, highlighting the skill and expertise required in vehicle auctioneering, while reinforcing NAMA’s position as a leading membership association committed to professional development and industry best practice.

Key features of the scheme include:

  • Individual licencing for auctioneers based on experience, industry knowledge, and professional conduct
  • Commitment to continued professional development (CPD) and adherence to a formal code of practice
  • Public recognition of licenced auctioneers through NAMA’s official register and branding

Liam Quegan, NAMA Chairman, commented:

“The launch of the Licenced Auctioneer Scheme is an important milestone for our association and our members. It not only reinforces the credibility and professionalism of the auctioneers in our sector but also provides a clear benchmark of quality and trust for both buyers and sellers in the vehicle remarketing process.”

By recognising individual excellence, the scheme will also strengthen NAMA’s collective voice as a representative body and further promote industry confidence in the remarketing process.

The scheme will be live during October and NAMA is working closely with member businesses to begin the licencing process for eligible auctioneers.
