IGA 17/11/2025
The Independent Garage Association (IGA) is delighted to announce a 22% increase in membership during 2025, bringing the association’s community to more than 4500. This marks a significant milestone in the organisation’s continued commitment to supporting the independent garage sector.
This growth reflects the IGA’s unwavering dedication to representing and advancing the interests of independent garages across the UK. As the largest and most prominent representative body in its field, the IGA’s success is built on its autonomy, its dedication to helping members thrive in a rapidly evolving business landscape, and its advocacy for the independent sector at every level.
The IGA continues to provide unrivalled value through its extensive portfolio of in-house services, including electric and hybrid vehicle expertise, specialist training programmes, tooling and equipment guidance, apprenticeship support and insurance solutions. These resources ensure members are fully equipped to meet the demands of the future automotive market.
From EV readiness and technical training to business development advice and regulatory support, the IGA ensures that wherever there is a need for help, guidance, or representation, its members have access to the right support. These initiatives are designed to strengthen members’ businesses in an increasingly competitive and technologically advanced market.
Stuart James, Chief Executive of the IGA, said: “We are delighted to see such a strong increase in membership, which demonstrates the growing confidence that independent garages place in the IGA. Our continued focus on providing exceptional value and meaningful support to our members remains at the heart of everything we do. The IGA is, and always will be, driven solely by the needs of the independent garage sector, without compromise or external influence.
“Beyond this, the IGA’s well-established relationships with government and key industry bodies ensure that the voice of the independent sector is both respected and represented at the highest levels. Our influence enables us to effectively advocate for the interests of our members and shape policies that support a fair and thriving automotive industry.”
The IGA remains committed to empowering independent garages with the tools, expertise, and representation they need to excel. This latest rise in membership is a clear reflection of the trust placed in the association’s services and the vital role it continues to play in shaping the future of the independent automotive industry.
