NAMA Market Update – December 2025: UK Wholesale Vehicle Market Ends Year on a Stable Footing

NAMA 22/12/2025

“December activity has been largely in line with seasonal expectations, with steady engagement across the wholesale market as the year draws to a close,” said Paul Hill, spokesperson for the National Association of Motor Auctions (NAMA). “While buyers are understandably more selective at this point in the year, members report that well-presented and sensibly priced stock continues to convert well.”

Market Overview

Some members reported modest value movements in December, consistent across age and mileage profiles. Three-year/60,000-mile cars were reported down by around 1.4%, one-year/10,000-mile cars by approximately 1.3%, and five-year/80,000-mile cars by around 1.5%. These changes are broadly in line with historic December averages and compare favourably with the sharper adjustments seen in late 2023.

Electric Vehicles

Across fuel types, members reported broadly consistent performance, with no significant change in buyer behaviour. Electric vehicles continue to attract strong interest in wholesale channels, supported by fast days-to-sell and retailer demand, particularly for vehicles priced below £20,000. Some members noted that, despite wider market commentary, there has been no material impact on EV demand at auction.

Light Commercial Vehicles

Light commercial vehicles remain a key area of strength. Members report continued shortages of quality stock, supporting strong conversion rates and stable values. Retail demand for LCVs has remained resilient, with many members expecting supply constraints to persist into early 2026.

Paul Hill concluded:
“Taken as a whole, members view 2025 as a strong year for the wholesale sector, with some noting it has been the most positive trading environment since the COVID period. While December reflects typical seasonal patterns, market fundamentals remain healthy, providing a solid platform as the industry moves into 2026.”
