NFDA Encourages Dealers to Support Motorists During UK Heatwave

NFDA 25/06/2026

With temperatures in the UK reaching the record heights this week, attention is turning to the impact extreme heat can have on vehicles. National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA) is encouraging franchised retailers to use the current heatwave as an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of routine vehicle maintenance.

High temperatures can place additional strain on key vehicle components, including tyres, cooling systems and air conditioning units. As motorists prepare for summer journeys, dealerships are well placed to provide expert advice and ensure vehicles remain safe and roadworthy.

Sue Robinson, Chief Executive of NFDA, said:

‘The current heatwave provides an opportunity for franchised retailers to engage with customers and highlight the importance of regular vehicle maintenance. Seasonal vehicle health checks can help identify potential issues before they develop and support safe and reliable motoring throughout the summer months.’

NFDA continues to encourage retailers to raise awareness of the importance of routine vehicle maintenance and to support customers with seasonal servicing and vehicle health checks during periods of extreme weather.
