IGA to provide GDPR solution for independents

IGA 11/10/2017

The Independent Garage Association (IGA) will ensure that independent garages are able to comply with the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) by publishing a self-help ‘Garage Guide to GDPR’ handbook.

This tailored solution will be reinforced with consultation support from the IGA’s team of specialist auditors, including a Quality Assurance certificate when the appropriate standard is met.

Stuart James, IGA Director commented: “There is currently a lot of publicity surrounding GDPR, leading to a degree of apprehension and uncertainty. We want to take this concern away and provide a bespoke solution specifically for small independent garages.

“Upon demonstrating compliance with the new GDPR regulation, we will be offering ongoing support to ensure consistent adherence.”

Whilst these services will be available to all independent garages through the RMI’s certification business, RMISC, IGA members will receive the handbook at no cost as a member benefit, and pricing will be subsidised for consultancy and audit visits.

The services are expected to be available at the end of the year. Garages can call 0845 305 4230 to be added to the waiting list.
