PRA supports UKPIA’s Vision of the Future

PRA 10/07/2019

"The Petrol Retailers Association (PRA) attended the launch of the ‘UKPIA Future Vision’ at the House of Commons yesterday where senior oil company representatives and a number of MP’s were in attendance”, said Brian Madderson, Chairman of the Petrol Retailers Association (PRA).

The UKPIA’s vision sets out how the downstream oil sector will be shaped over the next few decades in a low carbon future, and how it will adapt to meet the challenges of climate change.

Madderson continued, “In terms of how petrol forecourts will change, we are already seeing the building blocks of the Forecourt of the Future. A diversifying transport energy mix is emerging, offering liquid fuels incorporating Bio fuels content, Ad blue for the latest diesel vehicles, electric vehicle charging and hydrogen.

“In addition to this, many PRA members are investing in building larger shops, cafes, car washes and differentiating their offer by supplying a range of services including Post Offices, Butchers, Bakers and fresh food to go.

“The PRA supports the vision and urges the Government to work with our industry to meet the challenges of climate change. Whilst protecting the substantial financial contribution the downstream oil sector contributes to UK GDP, it also safeguards the 120,000 direct and 300,000 indirect jobs the industry supports."
