IMPLEMENTATION OF FUEL DUTY CUT WILL TAKE TIME SAY PETROL RETAILERS

PRA 22/03/2022

The PRA is calling for a fuel duty cut in tomorrow’s Spring Statement, but is urging the Chancellor and motorists to be realistic in their expectations of when the cut will feed through to the pumps.

PRA members are largely small, independent operators that are forced to respond to market conditions to continue serving their communities.

“Forecourt operators have purchased the fuel they are currently providing at the higher fuel duty rate. As a result, they must first deplete their stocks and resupply with fuel bought at a reduced rate before motorists will see a change in pump prices,” said Gordon Balmer, Executive Director of the PRA.
